Springfield and surrounding communities were hit hard in 2006 by severe storms. Fortunately, no lives were lost during either of these. The spring tornadoes heavily damages homes and power lines. In December we were once again hit, this time with an ice storm. In both of these incidents, some area residences were with out power for over a week. Callers to local power companies were only told crews were working as fast as they could and their power would be on soon. "Soon" for some people meant 5, 6, even 7 days with out power.

During these times stores quickly sell out of portable generators. If you're lucky enough to already own a smaller generator, you know the piece of mind it brings. The draw back of most portable generators is that they run on gas which requires fuel stabilizers for long term storage and can be hard to start in cold weather.
